Welcome

The John Leland Center for Theological Studies is committed to preparing leaders for the emerging church. Change is not new. Every generation faces new challenges and opportunities. Yet there are periods in history that are transformational, culture is radically altered through advances in communication, science or travel. Many believe that we are living in such an epoch with transitions happening rapidly in every segment of life.

We live in multi-cultural communities where a plurality of gods are worshiped. Mosques and temples join steeples as we look over the skylines of our cities. Ethnic communities, restaurants and shopping centers are constant reminders of our diversity. The generational divide is wider than ever with linear and mosaic thinkers unable to agree even on vocabulary.

How does the church respond to this world of opportunity and challenge? Leland embraces this complexity as a rare privilege to participate with churches in seeking God’s leadership as God calls servant leaders for such a time as this. The Lord has brought faculty and students together from many parts of the world to form a community of learners at Leland. We are committed to providing a solid biblical theological foundation, professional skills and spiritual formation for students who seek to follow Christ in sharing the Good News within a world of uncertainty.

We welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you about joining with us in this venture of learning.
